Tibet Violence

China tries to sidestep issues pertaining to rights abuses of ethnic communities.

Below is an article written by UNPO:

On Monday 9 February 2009, the human rights record of the People's Republic of China (PRC) will come under the scrutiny of the Universal Period Review (UPR) of the UN Human Rights Council (HRC). However, overwhelming concern has been expressed over the failure of China's national report to adequately address the situation in Eastern Turkestan, Inner Mongolia and Tibet as well as China's diplomatic attempt to gag discussion on these three important Issues. At this unique opportunity it now becomes crucial that UN Members assume their responsiblities by intervening to bring an end to long-standing human rights abuses against the Inner Mongolians, Tibetans and Uyghurs.
