The Unrepresented Nations and Peoples Organization (UNPO), together with the International Campaign for Tibet (ICT) and the Institute for the Rights of People (IRP), will host landmark conference on 19 September 2008 in Tallinn, Estonia, on population transfer from Baltic and Tibetan perspectives.

Senior international and Estonian parliamentarians, commentators will gather at the Estonian Academy of Sciences on Friday 19 September 2008 to discuss one of the most pressing and overlooked types of human rights abuse, so-called ‘population transfer’. Entitled Population Transfer: The Baltic States and the Tibetan Experience, the one-day seminar will be opened at 14.00 by Mr. Aleksei Lotman MP, Chairman of the Riigikogu Tibet Support Group, alongside Dr. Linnart Mäll, Chairman of the Institute of the Rights for People, and Mr. Marino Busdachin, General Secretary of the Unrepresented Nations and Peoples Organization (UNPO). Panelists will then address different aspects of population transfer. Renowned dissident Mr. Enn Tarto MP and Dr. Olaf Mertelsmann of the University of Tartu will recount the Baltic States’ experience of Soviet era population transfer, while Mr. Mart Laar MP will focus on the impact of population transfer on Tibet. Discussing the role of international law and population transfer will be introduced by Senator Marco Perduca and conducted by Mr. Ngawang Choephel Drakmargyapon of the of Tibetan UN Advocacy. Closing remarks will be made by the Honorary President of UNPO, Mr. Erkin Alptekin, and he will be joined in his remarks by Mr. Ngawang Choephel Drakmargyapon. The seminar also precedes the fifth session of the UNPO Presidency, which commences on 20 September 2008. The UNPO Presidency currently comprises members representing Abkhazia, Crimean Tatars, East Turkestan, Khmer Krom, Mapuche, Montagnards, Ogoni, Sindh, Somaliland, Southern Cameroons, Tibet and Balochistan. - Programme - 14.00 - INTRODUCTION

With the global spotlight on China as it rises to host the XXIX Olympics, Tibetans wish to tell the world of their plight and their heartfelt grievances against Chinese rule. The footage was smuggled out of Tibet under extraordinary circumstances.
