The Iraqi Kurdistan Region president, Mas'ud Barzani, and the US ambassador to Iraq, Ryan Crocker, discussed Kirkuk issues, constitutional Article 140 and the Oil and Gas Bill in a meeting held in Salah-al-Din summer resort, Arbil Governorate, on 20 July 2008, pro-Kurdistan Democratic Party website Peyamner reported.

The website reported that Barzani had received a US embassy delegation headed by Ambassador Crocker in Salah-al-Din, on 20 July [2008], discussing means of strengthening ties between the USA and Iraq, the talks on US-Iraq agreement and Kirkuk issues. The delegates also held "intensive discussions on the Governorate Council Elections Bill, hoping for the Iraqi parliament to reach a decision on it" and the majority of the Iraqi blocs to support it, Peyamner added.

n another part of the meeting, the two delegates discussed the Oil and Gas Bill and the UNAMI's role in the implementation process of Article 140.
