UNPO Monitor Brings News From First Day of UNHRC
Sunday, 16 March 2008

As the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) meets in Geneva for four weeks, UNPO highlights those issues affecting its Members in the first of this year’s UNHRC Monitors.

In this, the first issue of the 2008 Monitor, readers will discover what the UN Secretary-General sees as the main challenges facing the UNHRC over the coming year and how the independence of Kosova continues to cause controversy in the Council chamber.  Additional stories also cover the ongoing concern over events in Burma and the growing debate between states on the proper approach to the defamation of religion.
