After taking over the reins for a second consecutive term today [12 March 2008], Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio said his government would pursue with the Centre to expedite the slowed-down Naga peace process.

As committed earlier, the DAN government would sincerely pursue with the Centre to expedite the slowed down Naga peace process for finding an honourable and acceptable solution for the Nagas, Rio told reporters here [at Press Trust of India].

The Chief Minister said the government would maintain order at all cost but the state would need the Centre's co-operation to deal with violence that was political in nature.

Like in his previous tenure, the new government would constitute two political affairs committees, one at government level and another at the DAN partners level, to pursue the task of unity and re-conciliation among Naga groups.

Rio said his top priority was to restore peace and normalcy in the state after the heat of electioneering.

The Democratic Alliance of Nagaland in its common minimum programme had accorded top priority to peace, progress and development and would sincerely pursue the promises made during electioneering, Rio said.

"Let us forget the bitterness of the electoral contest and jointly contribute for the progress of our state," he said.
