Ingushetia: Council of Europe visits Ingushetia and Chechnya

MOSCOW, June 2 - PACE ( Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe) rapporteurs for Chechnya Rudolf Binding and Andreas Gross will fly to the North Caucasus in Wednesday to study the humanitarian situation in Chechnya and Ingushetia. The PACE representatives have been preparing a report for the coming PACE session in Strasbourg.

While in Chechnya, the two PACE rapporteurs will meet members of the Chechen government, prosecutor’s office, court of justice, representatives of political organizations and visit temporary compounds for refugees who returned to Chechnya.

In Ingushetia, the PACE delegation will discuss the situation around forcibly resettled people from Chechnya and North Ossetia at a meeting with the Ingush leadership, The number of forcibly resettled people staying in Ingushetia is 57,000, including 45,500 from Chechnya and 12,500 from North Ossetia, according to Ingush President Murat Zyazikov.
