Ingushetia: Last Chechen refugee camp in Ingushetia to be closed
Friday, 28 May 2004
MOSCOW. May 27 (Interfax) - The last remaining tent camp for Chechen refugees in the Russian region of Ingushetia is scheduled to be closed down on June 10, deputy head of the Federal Migration Service Igor Yunash said on Thursday.

Yunash told Interfax 960 people were living in the remaining 200 tents of the camp, which is called Satsita.

"Displaced persons continue to leave Satsita, and there's no point in keeping the camp around," he said.

He said some of the refugees leaving Satsita were returning to Chechnya and others were staying in Ingushetia. "It's a purely voluntary process, everything depends on the people's desire," he said.
