From 28 May to 3 June, the David A. Clarke School of Law at UDC and the Maui Community College are hosting the Political Science 290V in Washington DC. This innovative program on human rights will consist of lectures, workshops and excursions in the city with a focus on the United States foreign policy.
Led by specialists, the lectures and workshops will tackle such issues as International Human Rights Institutions and Instruments, Regional Human Rights Treaty Mechanisms, U.S. Record of Ratification and Implementation of Human Rights, the International Criminal Court, Indigenous Peoples’ Rights and Earth Rights.
Excursions of empowerment will take the participants to the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights, headquarters of national Non-Governmental Organizations, the U.S. State Department Office of Human Rights and Labor and the Smithsonian’s National Museum of the American Indian.
