The president of the Autonomous Bougainville Government Joseph Kabui has announced that the government this year will be making radical changes in implementing development plans. President Kabui said a lot of changes had already occurred within the region and that ABG was slowly picking up momentum to implement its strategic development plan.

He said at the moment development such as road works, bridges, and the restructure of the Bougainville administration was paving the way for other developments to take place. “We can see now that Bougainville is slowly developing itself and therefore changes are taking place in the region,” Mr Kabui said.

He stressed on the floor of Parliament that this year his government would be prioritising and implementing its action plans to deliver service to the people of Bougianville. Mr Kabui added this was just the beginning and already positive signs of development had taken place. “I believe this year Bougainville will be moving forward into bigger and greater developments, which will have visual impact in the region,” Mr Kabui said.

He admitted that his government had not been performing in some areas but reassured the people of Bougainville that his cabinet would improve in these areas.
