UNPO VII General Assembly

Globalize Democracy; To Defend Human Rights and the Right to Self-Determination

 

Date: 24 – 26 June 2005

Place: Peace Palace / City Hall, The Hague, the Netherlands

 

The Unrepresented Nations and Peoples Organization (UNPO) will open its VII General Assembly (GA) on Friday, 24 June 2005. Known upon its inception as a “shadow UN” for oppressed peoples and nations worldwide, UNPO is an ever-expanding international membership organisation currently counting more than 60 members from the Pacific to Africa, from Europe to Far East Asia. Delegates from all world continents will convene in The Hague for the GA, to adopt decisions and initiate action on major issues of promoting democracy, the implementation of self-determination and non-violence.

 

The work of the GA will start on the morning of Friday 24 June with assembly procedures, followed by:

12:00 Opening session of the 7th UNPO General Assembly in the Great Hall of Justice, Peace Palace, Carnegieplein 2, The Hague

13:00 Salutation by The Mayor of The Hague Mr. W.J. Deetman, followed by other interventions and the Report of General Secretary Marino Busdachin

17:45 March for “Justice, Democracy, Human Rights and Tolerance” from the Peace Palace to The Hague City Hall

18:30-20:00 Welcoming reception: "Bienvenus à la Haye" at Haagsche Lobby, The Hague City Hall, Spui 70, The Hague

 

Succeeding sessions of the UNPO General Assembly start 09:30 AM on Saturday 25 June and follow through to 26 June 2005 in the Raadzaal, The Hague City Hall and will be open to the general public.
