Ingushetia: Zyazikov Makes Annual Address to Ingush Parliament
Monday, 07 March 2005
Ingush President Murat Zyazikov made an annual address to the Ingush People’s Assembly on Saturday. In his address the head of the republic assessed the work of the government for the last two years and set tasks for 2005.

Zyazikov noted that “several negative factors affected the work of the government for social and economic development of Ingushetia.” He stressed among them the extremely low level of the provision of the whole infrastructure in the republic and the low economic base respectively, the high dependence of the republic on subsidies, difficult migration situation (forced migrants from Chechnya and North Ossetia) and the difficult political situation in southern Russia.

Meanwhile, according to the president, “it can be stated for sure that noticeable shifts occur in all spheres of life in the republic.” “Ingushetia is one of the most intensively developing constituents in the Southern Federal District,” Zyazikov pointed out. “This became possible owing to the real aid of the federal center to Ingushetia,” he remarked.

The president pledged that the Ingush authorities “will not allow the deterioration of the public political situation in the republic, will take tough measures under the current legislation to those who embarked on the criminal way and encroach on the interests of the people, republic and its statehood no matter what motives they are guided by.”
