Recent incident of COSATU being barred from entering Zimbabwe for a so-called
fact finding mission and also meeting with their trade union counterpart,
has reference. COSATU is a member of the tripartite alliance involving ANC
and SACP. When the State President nominates his Cabinet Ministers he chooses
from those three organisations. One would say that the Government of South
Africa is led by the ANC and its alliance partners.
Be that as it may, the crux of the matter in this discussion is that COSATU
is portraying an image of philanthropism, when it raised concern that people
of Zimbabwe are being downtrodden, illtreated and misgoverned by the Government
of Zimbabwe. It sounds reasonable but also mindboggling because that spirit
of philanthropism is not evenly distributed to, shall I say, all humanity
and therefore exhibit some form of double-standard and hypocracy. It is not
evenly distributed in the sense that concern that is being raised by COSATU
on the ill-treatment of the workers and all the people of Zimbabwe is not
reflective of the love of the people of their own country SOUTH AFRICA, because
all about ethnicity and violation of human rights is not well in our country
but no similar concern is being raised by COSATU,in this instance.
In the context of Christian Religion, in the book of MATTHEW 7:3-5, the following
is written in this connection: "3Why do you look at the speck of sawdust
in your brother's eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye?
4How can you say to your brother, 'Let me take the speck out of your eye;
when all the time there is a plank in your own eye?
5 You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will
see clearly to remove the speck from your brother's eye.
The above verses clearly outline the gist of the message that we would like
to reach those concerned. COSATU is trying to pool wool over the eyes of those
who are politically, socially and culturally shortsighted because such purpotted
intervention in Zimbabwean issues is not being done out of love but out of
hidden political agenda.
