The Sindhi American Political Action Committee (SAPAC) announces its inaugural event.

SAPAC will hold its inaugural event Wednesday, September 16 from 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM at the Washington Court Hotel (525 New Jersey Avenue NW).

SAPAC was established to engage in political advocacy and lobbying activities on behalf of the Sindh province in Pakistan, and the Sindhi people internationally.  As documented, there have been numerous human rights violations in the region that are limiting the native inhabitants’ rights to education, economic advancement and freedom of cultural national identity.  SAPAC will champion these issues to the American policy makers and public in order to bring about change in international attitudes towards Pakistan and aid distribution.

This event will include an opening reception with brief comments from SAPAC’s President, Mr. Maqbool Halepota and a keynote address from the distinguished Mr. Selig Harrison of the Center for International Policy.  Following dinner, commentary will be heard from Dr. Marvin Weinbaum of The Middle East Institute, Special Guest Congressman Gary Ackerman (D-NY5) and Chief Guest Congressman Brad Sherman (D-CA27) regarding the status of Sindh and its relations to the United States of America.  The topic of the discussion is “The role of Sindhis and Baluchis to Counter Jehadis in Pakistan”.

The R.S.V.P period for the inaugural reception and dinner is completed. For further information contact Munawar Laghari at [email protected].
