Abkhazia: Russia Appoints Ambassador


Active ImageThe Abkhaz and Russians authorities have agreed to have full diplomatic representation in both countries to improve cooperation.

Russian newspapers reported yesterday [19 October 2008] that The Russian Federation would have its embassy in Abkhazia. Reportedly, Russian Diplomat, Simon Gregolyev will be appointed the ambassador of Russia in the region. 

Gregoryev chairs the fourth department of the CIS committee of the Russian Foreign Ministry at present. Earlier he headed the process of Russian military base pullout from Georgia. 

The candidacy has been already presented to the Russian president and the proper committee of the Russian DUMA for approval.
