Mr. Dolma Kyab (Chinese: Zhou Shique), a 29 year old Tibetan writer, was detained in March 2005 on what has been said to be charges of 'endangering state security'. He was subsequently convicted in a closed trial and is currently serving a 10 year prison term. Mr. Kyab, worked as a writer and history teacher in
Official details of charges against him are not known. According to information received by the International Campaign for Tibet (ICT), Mr. Dolma Kyab has been denied a fair trial, and has been left with no legal recourse.
UNPO, sharing the concerns of ICT, hereby strongly urges the Minister of Justice of the People's Republic of
to ensure the release of unjustly imprisoned Dolma Kyab; and
to end unjust political persecution and provide fair trials in adherence with international standards.
