Ogoni:Educate Masses on Need for Good Leadership, Commissioner Urges


Youths in Ogoni Kingdom have been told to educate the masses on the need to elect quality leaders into position of authority in the next political era. This advice was given by a Commissioner in the State Local Government Service Commission, Chief Gregory Bariledum Nwidam when members of the Ogoni Youth Federation paid a courtesy visit on him in his office.

This advice was given in Port Harcourt by a Commissioner in the State Local Government Service Commission, Chief Gregory Bariledum Nwidam when members of the Ogoni Youth Federation paid a courtesy visit on him in his office.

Chief Nwidam stated that the call became necessary in view of the fact that the success of any system was largely depended on the quality of leaders elected to serve.
He noted that the Federation which comprises sound and youthful mind they should in the vanguard to enlighten elected officers to use their position to serve and not to enrich themselves.

The Commissioner stressed the need for all Ogoni people to work towards the collective advancement of the average Ogoni man in order to promote brotherly love and a sense of belonging.
Chief Nwidam called on the entire citizenry in Ogoni land to support and rally around the State Governor, Dr Peter Odili who had done so much for them in terms of development and appointments.

He expressed appreciation to the Almighty God for his appointment and the Governor for deeming him fit to serve in his administration and promised to discharge his duty diligently.
The Commissioner assured the Federation that he would identify with them if they champion the development of Ogoni land and avoids cultism and other social vices among themselves.
Chief Nwidam, however, enjoined the Federation to enlist more females in their fold in order to create a balance and allow women to contribute their quota to the development of their fatherland and thanked them for recognising his humbly contribution to the people.

Earlier in his address the President of the Ogoni Youth Federation which comprises youths from Eleme, Gokana, Khana and Tai Local Government Areas, Prince Sudor Nwiyor had said that the Federation decided to bestowed on Chief Nwidam as the Most Generous Ogoni Politician in recognition of his contribution to the upliftment of the average Ogoni in terms of need.
Prince Nwiyor noted the giant achievements of Chief Nwidam during his tenure as Caretaker Committee Chairman of Khana Local Government Area in the area of development, empowerment, peace, regular payment of staff salaries and selfless service.
