Sindh: Prime Minister Lauds Peaceful Conduct of LG Polls

Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz has said that it is heartening the first and second phase of Local Bodies Elections have completed peacefully in Sindh. He said, while talking to Chief Minister Sindh Dr. Arbab Ghulam Rahim who called on him at the Prime Minster House, this evening (Wednesday).

The prime Minister said that initial results indicate moderate and enlightened forces have performed well in Sindh, the Prime Minister said Sindh has tremendous potential Industrial, agricultural and service sectors.

The Prime Minister said that Asian development Bank agreed to provide financial assistance to mega city of Karachi to improve mass transit and urban renewal. The ADB will also extend assistance for developing smaller towns of rural sector and provide basic facilities.

The Federal government provides all necessary resources for the development of infrastructure including roads, electricity, and gas, and sanitation, water so that the benefit of growth reaches the common man. The Prime Minister also emphasized on the need for better health and educational facilities as only a healthy and literacy society can ensure sustain progress.

The Prime Minister said that Sindh is rich in natural resources including gas, coal, minerals, and alternative energy, which require to be trapped. The Chief Minister Sindh apprised the Prime Minister of the steps taken by the Sindh administration in conducting free, fair, safe and transparent elections and commended role of administration and Law enforcing Agencies.

The Sindh government is committed to improve governance, education, and health and utilize all its resources to fight sectarianism and terrorism.
