Sindh: Leader of the Jeay Sindh Muttahida Mahaz Shot Dead


The dead body was found in a burnt car after the JSMM leader was kidnapped from his home and was shot dead.  The violations against the leader instigated protests across the region.

A shutter-down strike was observed in the interior Sindh after the murder of central leader of the Jeay Sindh Muttahida Mahaz (JSMM), on Friday [30 May 2014].

According to reports, Munir Choliani’s dead body was found lying by the road on the outskirts of Shahdadkot in Qamber-Shahdadkot District, around 44 kilometres northwest of Larkana city. Sources said that the JSMM leader was kidnapped from his residence on Thursday [29 May 2014]. The killing comes two months after two senior leaders of another Sindhi nationalist party, Jeay Sindh Qaumi Mahaz (JSQM), Maqsood Qureshi, the brother of late JSQM chief Bashir Khan Qureshi, and Salman Wadho, were killed. 

Their severely charred bodies were found in a burnt car near Naushahro Feroze town of Sindh. The murders triggered protests and strikes across the province.

A shutter-down strike was observed in Warah and Naseerabad towns in the interior of Sindh against the murder of Munir Choliani, who was kidnapped along with his wife, daughter and driver on Thursday [29 May 2014] while he was travelling to Sehwan. His wife and daughter were released by the kidnappers later. The dead body of the nationalist leader was found from Hotak area of Sehwan early morning at 6am on Friday [30 May 2014]. He was shot dead. The funeral prayers of Munir Choliani were offered in his native town, Warah, in Larkana District. A large number of party workers and leaders, and local people attended the funeral prayers. The slain JSMM leader will be laid to rest at Sann graveyard near the last abode of GM Syed.
