Inner Mongolia: Women’s Organisation Delivers Charity Parcels To Mothers In Need

Members from the Women’s Federation of Inner Mongolia distributed over 200 packages to help mothers and their families living in poverty.

Below is an article published by Women of China:

Ten staff members, from the Women's Federation in northern China's Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, and the People's Bank of China Hohhot Central Branch, visited impoverished mothers in Dongbahao Township on March 11, 2014, donating 219 charity parcels filled with daily necessities.

Launched in 2012 by the China Women's Development Foundation (CWDF) and the All-China Women's Federation (ACWF), the Postal Parcel for Mothers charity project features transparent and convenient participation. Donors can purchase parcels containing 100 or 200 yuan (U.S. $15.89 or U.S $31.78) worth of basic necessities to help mothers in poverty-stricken areas,. The parcels contain such items as washing powder and towels, and can be purchased via several different channels, including at post offices, the CWDF website, Internet service portal Tencent's charity channel and the Alipay online payment platform. In response, the donors will receive thank-you cards from the beneficiaries.

So far, the project has raised funds of more than 40 million yuan (US$ 6.54 million) and has distributed approximately 400,000 charity parcels to women in 29 provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities to help disadvantaged mothers and their families.

Since the project launched in Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region in 2012, 17,859 parcels have been distributed to impoverished local mothers.
