Crimean Tatars: Jemilev Discusses Restoration Law


Chairman of the Crimean Tatar Mejlis, Mustafa Jemilev, meets with Vice Prime Minister Sergei Tigipko to discuss the adoption of the long awaited draft law on the restoration of the rights of deported persons.

In the framework of the discussion of the question of the adoption of the draft Law of Ukraine “On the Restoration of the Rights of Persons, Deported on the National Grounds” the Chairman of Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people, MP of Ukraine Mustafa Jemilev had a meeting with the Vice Prime Minister, the Minister of the Social Policy Sergei Tigipko and his First deputy Wassily Nadraga.

During the meeting Mustafa Jemilev took an interest in the joint consideration of the draft Law along with the Ukrainian Government, aimed at it’s soonest passing and coming into effect.

In conclusion of the talk the parties adopted the model of the further cooperation on this issue – the calling of the working group under the aegis of the Vice Prime Minister, the Minister of the Social Policy of Ukraine S.Tigipko with participation of all the ministers and departments concerned.

As reported, on June 20, 2012 the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine adopted the draft Law of Ukraine “On the Restoration of the Rights of Persons, Deported on the National Grounds” in the first reading and passed it to the consideration in the second reading.

The Draft Law #5515  was registered in 2010.

Earlier the same draft Law was adopted by the Parliament, but was vetoed by the President of Ukraine in 2004.
