Taiwan: More Than 1,400 Chinese Missiles Targeting Taiwan

The number of Chinese missiles targeting Taiwan has risen to more than 1,400, the head of Taiwan’s National Security Bureau has said, highlighting the complexity of the peacemaking process in the Taiwan Strait.

Below is an article published by Japan Today:

NSB Director General Tsai De-sheng confirmed Wednesday at the legislature that a bureau report found the number of all types of guided missiles deployed on China’s coast opposite Taiwan increased from 1,328 during the previous Democratic Progressive Party government to 1,410 today.

Tsai’s confirmation of the increase—after an opposition DPP legislator cited the number of missiles in the report, which is not for public release—shows the peacemaking efforts and integrationist policies of Taiwan President Ma Ying-jeou of the Nationalist Party (KMT) have not stemmed deployment of the weapons.
