After nominations closed earlier this month, Sokhum City Assembly elections will be held on 27 March 2010 with candidates standing from a variety of backgrounds

The city election commission registered candidates for the Sukhum City Assembly, the capital’s administration told "Apsnypress".

A businessman Aslan Basaria; a ZAO “Aquafon -GSM” employee Dmitry Gvaramia; an electrician of automatic telephone exchange-226 Ismet Jakub-ogly were registered candidates in #8 constituency.

A researcher for the Center for strategic research to the President of the Republic of Abkhazia Lana Tsaava and a private entrepreneur Mikhail Gabelia were registered candidates in #19 constituency.

Re-elections to the Sukhum City Assembly in two #8 and #19 constituencies will be held on Saturday, March 27 [2010]. Re-elections were set in connection with unexpected death of two MPs of the City Assembly – Dmitry Chukbar and Roland Alan.

Initiative groups were registered and nomination of candidates was held from February 17 till March 8 [2010].
