"The FF Plus is glad that the previous court order pertaining to the Pretoria Street name issue is still in place," Mr. Jaco Mulder, MPL and Provincial Leader in Gauteng, said following the decision of Judge Pathudi in the Pretoria High Court.

Judge Pathudi however today agreed in the Pretoria High Court to the application which the Tshwane Metro Council brought against the FF Plus and AfriForum, which means that although the previous order is still in place, it does not prohibit the Tshwane Metro Council from erecting the welcoming boards at the entrance of the city which would only display the name Tshwane. Through this the perception is however created that the city's name is Tshwane where it is in actual fact not the case.

"The fact that the name City of Tshwane/Pretoria is used in the international marketing campaign for the 2010 Soccer World Cup, while the local campaign will only contain the name City of Tshwane, creates further marketing confusion. The FF Plus is investigating the possibility to become involved in other processes aimed at protecting the name Pretoria.
